Each year, the APPA’s (Australian Professional Photography Awards) are held.
Professional Photographers from Australia and New Zealand are able to submit images in varying categories to be judged by a panel of trained peers.
This year I entered for the very first time and attended the live judging for the State Awards last Sunday.
Both exciting and scary, it was such an incredible experience to watch my images come before some of the most respected photographers and judges in the industry and then listen to them score and sometimes even talk about them.
I was thrilled to be given 2 silver awards.
One in the Family category – the family’s reflection in the water – scoring 80
and
One in the Portrait category – the black and white image of Joshua – scoring 83.
The remainder of my images fell in the 71-79 range which showed good professional practice.
I’m so pleased to have been able to include these also.
I would like to thank Robyn Hills, an incredibly talented 4 times Master Photographer and Fellow of the AIPP.
She gave me so much of her time and expertise when it came to selecting which images I should submit for the awards
and also the best way to present them.
Her knowledge in this field is incredible and I learnt so much from her during this time.
Thank you Robyn!
Also, many thanks to my family and friends and also my wonderful clients who sent me good wishes and congratulations when they heard my exciting news.
