Extended Family Photoshoot Brisbane
I LOVE an extended family photoshoot! Mums and dads, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunties, uncles – the more the merrier! This is what childhood memories are made up of and an extended family photoshoot is a very special way to preserve those memories. Bringing the extended family together for a photo session will be a day that will always be remembered and the images will be treasured for a lifetime.
YOUR SESSION FEE – WHAT’S INCLUDED?
Your family session fee is $200 and includes:
- A phone call to chat about your entire family, what to expect, ideas on what to wear and suggestions for the perfect location.
- A photographic session on location – around an hour, sometimes a little longer.
- A private online gallery with the best images fully edited for you to view.
- An in-home consultation to suggest design concepts that will customise and showcase your favourite images.
I’d love to send you my Catalogue which features all of the beautiful products that I offer – contact me for pricing and more information about having your extended family photoshoot, or feel free to keep scrolling for more information and answers to frequently asked questions.
BEFORE YOUR EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
I’d love to hear all about everyone in your extended family.
We’ll chat over the phone and talk about the connections you have with each other as well as the types of photos that I’ll be taking. We’ll also talk about what time to book your session, possible locations and ideas on what to wear.
DURING YOUR SESSION
We’re going to have more fun than you ever thought possible. Your session will probably take around an hour – maybe a little longer and your family will feel like they’re simply hanging out and having a good laugh. Be prepared though, I’m known to have some pretty bad ‘Dad jokes’ in my repertoire so feel free to come along with some new material for me.
AFTER YOUR SESSION
I’ll only be choosing the best images from your extended family photoshoot. You won’t see any images where you’re blinking or not looking absolutely gorgeous! I aim to have your images fully edited in my classic, clean style within 2 weeks of your family session. I’ll organise a private and password-protected online gallery with all your images so that you can login from the comfort of your home and take a good look at them. From there we can catch up together with a full set of printed proofs and my samples at your place and chat about your favourites – if you need help with suggestions on how to best showcase your favourite images, then that’s what I love doing most!
Extended Family Session – Mermaid Beach Photographer
What an absolute pleasure it was to be asked to photograph this beautiful extended family. Three generations altogether at the Gold Coast to mark Peter’s 80th birthday with an extended family photo session. What was even lovelier was that the session was a birthday gift from some of Peter’s close
Extended Family Session – Roma Street Parklands Photography
What better way to celebrate a milestone birthday than with a beautiful extended family session!! When Raylee contacted me about her Mum turning 70, she expressed that her and her brother’s family were keen to have a family session with their parents. It was also important that they gifted their

HELFUL INFORMATION
LOCATIONS
There are so many awesome locations in and around Brisbane – and the best part is, you don’t have to travel far to get to most of them. You may love the look of an urban background or prefer something pretty, green and manicured. Maybe you have no idea at all and that’s ok because when we chat I’ll send you some links to heaps of locations that you can consider. Head on over to my blog and scroll through some sessions – if there’s somewhere that you absolutely love, I can let you know where it is. Seriously, the list is endless.
WHAT TO WEAR
This is the fun part!
Sometimes keeping to a simpler palette of maybe 2 or 3 colours, makes co-ordinating outfits with lots of family members so much easier. Choose clothing that reflects the personality of each member of your family. Be sure that they love what they’re wearing and that you love it too! Remember, you may want to hang some photos on your walls so keep in mind the mix of colours and patterns that you’ve chosen.
BEST TIME OF THE DAY FOR YOUR EXTENDED FAMILY PHOTOSHOOT
It’s all about the light – I want you to have beautiful, flattering light for your family images – no squinty eyes or hot sun making you feel uncomfortable. That’s why your session won’t ever be in the middle of the day. I love to photograph either early in the morning at 7.30am or late in the afternoon about an hour and a half before the sun sets. It’s always gorgeous then!
CANDID & CLASSIC FAMILY PHOTOS
I absolutely love candid photos – images that are relaxed and unexpected showing your family interacting with each other. I’ll be sure to have these in your gallery to enjoy but … I also absolutely love the classic family portrait. This is the one with everyone looking at the camera and smiling. With so many combinations and groups of families to photograph, you will definitely receive more of these classic portraits in your gallery than candid ones. To be honest, it really is a very timeless image that captures everyone as they are at this time in their lives.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- Not all the relatives are excited about having their photo taken. What should I do?
I hear this quite a bit. It’s always a good idea to show them some recent sessions on my blog so they can see other extended family sessions. I won’t be getting them to sit in any studio or ask them to do anything awkward or uncomfortable. Seriously, we’re going to hang out and have a few laughs and the best part is that at the end you’ll have a collection of images that I know they’ll love. - Do you offer Collections that I must buy from?
No. I truly believe that no two families are alike and I don’t want you to be locked into a Collection that may have pieces that you don’t need or love. You are under no obligation to buy anything at all. Of course, I absolutely hope you LOVE your images so much so that you can’t decide how to enjoy them all – that’s why you chose to have a family session, right? To have beautiful and memorable images that are a reminder of your family at this time in your lives. - What Product do you offer?
I offer small prints, table frames, a beautiful brag book or storybook album, digital files and wall art. The wall art includes canvas, custom framed fine art prints and superb acrylic pieces. I have samples of all these products as well as a Product Catalogue that I can email to you with photos and prices as a guide.
- How will I know the best way to showcase my favourite photos?
After you’ve had time to look at your online gallery of images, most families like me to visit them in their home with my samples and also a full set of printed proofs. There’s no extra cost to you for this – it’s included in your session fee. I can then help you to cull down to your favourites and suggest options to enjoy them – whether that be in a Storybook album or maybe a beautiful gallery of custom framed fine art prints. I’ll work within your budget and also the space you have in your home to create something very beautiful that you can treasure for a lifetime. - How do we know if you’re the right photographer for us?
Great question! I’m dedicated and passionate about creating beautiful, timeless images for you to enjoy with your children and their children. I’ve been an accredited member of the Australian Institute of Professional Photography and have won many awards for my images both at State and National levels, so can feel comfortable knowing that you’re in good hands. What’s equally important is that you love the style of photos that I create!
WHAT CLIENTS ARE SAYING
“Leanne is a true professional in every sense of the word and offers a bespoke personalized service that is unbeatable. She knows how to bring out the best in her subjects and locations. Best of all, she has a great eye for detail so that clients can feel totally relaxed. I feel this is important as she made us look like us, only better. We trusted that she would be able to deliver, but she was also able to capture those precious moments in time that our family will treasure a lifetime.”
ANGELA
“With my mother-in-laws 80th coming up and her only request being a family portrait, I knew I had to contact Leanne. She spoke at length over the phone planning with me how the day would unfold, various options for our gift for my mother-in-law, where we would best stand to get the correct lighting etc and also ideas on a colour scheme! Leanne was able to create for us many precious memories that day. My mother-in-law enjoyed her day and now has some wonderful photos that she proudly displays for all her visitors to see. Leanne genuinely cares that you get the best from your experience with her.”
MARIA
“We chose Leanne again because we had had such a great experience the first time around. Her sessions are very relaxed and enjoyable and with such a large family group I knew that it would go quite smoothly. Leanne goes above the normal limits and really makes everyone feel relaxed and comfortable whilst she is working her magic. Never at any time did I feel rushed or uncomfortable. I really like the way she offers suggestions and I especially like the mock ups that she offers (this is the best) as I can see what the photos will look like hanging on my wall before I order.”
